Humboldt Parkway Now & Then

In fall of 2021, I participated in a public art residency at the AKG Buffalo Northland building located on Buffalo’s East Side. Inspired by the proximity to the divisive Kensington Expressway, I created a body of work and public mural that told the history of how Humboldt Parkway was removed in order to install the highway as well as the devastating impact it has had on the East Side community. I was able to host workshops with local neighborhood associations and create a series of shows and events around the region that aimed to bring awareness to local efforts to remediate the highway and it’s detrimental impact on the neighborhood.
